Jazz, Love & Henderson – International Concert Theatre in an old gasometer

20.01.2012  -  25.02.2012

Denmark's greatest jazz diva performing in her own exclusive concert theatre thematizing around globalization, immigration and emigration together with six international top dancers and a jazz quintet led by piano virtuoso Nikolaj Hess.

JAZZ, LOVE & HENDERSON is a sincere and personal story that portrays Caroline Henderson’s tumultuous life from Stockholm to New York, Paris to Copenhagen, from being a girl to becoming a woman, from emigrant to immigrant.

Like a musical inner road movie Caroline Henderson looks back to where it all began.
Born in Stockholm as the daughter of a white Swedish upper class woman and a black American jazz musician, Caroline grew up in Sweden, USA and France in the political upheaval of the 60s and 70s.

Filled up with impressions and with a far too adult life experience, Caroline returns to Stockholm in the 70s with her family. And with an unconventional background and multiple languages a rootless and searching Caroline enters her teenage years.

With sky high stilettos, pink ostrich feathers, video, animation, six dancers from New York, Paris and Copenhagen and a handful of Denmark’s best jazz musicians JAZZ, LOVE &HENDERSON is a personal and musical history of moving through life across borders.

Speech and songs are in Danish, English, French and Swedish.
