"Let’s Dance" is a transcultural dance project allowing young non-ethnic Europeans from deprived estates in Copenhagen and Brussels to meet for two weeks to create a dance performance based on Street Art culture. The purpose of this project is for this group of new Europeans to find a new (their new?) European identity on stage through creativity, exchange and dialogue.
10 young dancers from "Dans i Nordvest" in Copenhagen and "Lezarts Urbain" in Brussels are to meet for an intense two-week workshop where they will create a dance/music performance together, which is to be shown locally and on established stages in their respective cities. The project gives young non-ethnic Europeans from deprived estates the opportunity to meet and live with each other, and to give them the chance to witness each other’s everyday life. This gives the individual participant – and those who hear of and watch the project – the experience of not being alone as there are other young people in Europe who share the reality and history of a young new European with all the identity questions this raises in an intercultural European reality in the year 2012.
