The archaeology club Harja from Odense Museum in Denmark is launching a 3 year project for seniors, professional archaeologists and volunteers, who are to conduct several joint activities in both Denmark and Lithuania. The project will first of all concentrate on establishing collaboration between seniors and exchange of knowledge and knowhow on cooperation between senior volunteers, museums and archaeologists in the Kaunas area in Lithuania and in the Odense area in Denmark.
The project will, furthermore, develop the knowledge and archaeological expertise accumulated by both parties in Denmark and Lithuania. The organization of the archaeological work will also be developed through the exciting cross-border intercultural cooperation. The project will take its starting point in Scandinavian–Baltic prehistoric coexistence, and use this to establish future collaboration between senior volunteers in Denmark and Lithuania to further archaeology across national borders.
This is a 3-step project: preparing the senior volunteers for the exchange project, deploying and exchanging the senior volunteers in both Denmark and Lithuania and, finally, establishing an evaluation process which will help create bonds and a platform for future collaboration and exchange between the two countries.
The project is supported by the European Commission and the national agency for Grundtvig Senior Volontør Projekter 2011.
