Per Kirkeby (born in 1938) is today one of the most internationally acclaimed Danish artists. He has done a lot of experimental work as a painter, graphic designer, sculptor, poet and film maker. In addition, he has worked as a professor at the Art Academies in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt.
He is educated as geologist and has participated in expeditions in Greenland. His interest in geology and nature in general is reflected in his expressive art. He has been a role model for many young artists, also in Lithuania.
Per Kirkeby’s works are shown at many exhibitions both in Denmark and abroad. He is represented in several public collections, including Tate Gallery, London, Museum of Modern Art, New York and Centre Pompidou, Paris.
