The project began in 2007, and every year since then it has presented 36 pictorial art exhibitions in 8 different cities across Lithuania. The main interest of the project is painting as a traditional form of art but modern in aesthetic expression and content.
A number of famous contemporary Lithuanian artists, along with artists from Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia and Spain, have displayed their works in the classical galleries owned by noble families – families with an historical tradition of exhibiting works of art.
From the beginning the purpose of the project was to take art out of the big cities and create a new network in regions with smaller cities. This idea has proven successful and the project has gained international status. Today the exhibitions are some of the most well-attended art exhibitions in Lithuania.
Besides the 36 pictorial art exhibitions, the Danish painter Bjarne Rihave has been invited to highlight Danish culture during the nine-month exhibition period in 2012.
