With a steady hand, the project Denmark in transition cuts a piece in time and portrays country and city created on the aesthetic and visual terms given by photography.
The Danish landscape with its coasts, ports and towns draws together a wealth of material for pictures of atmosphere that rely on knowledge and intimacy, physical facts that have always attracted artists, painters and photographers and representing a continual source of renewed inspiration.
The participating photographers and visual artists are: Jørgen Borg, Peter Brandes, Christina Capetillo, Krass Clement, Joakim Eskildsen, Mads Gamdrup, Nicolai Howalt, John Jedbo, Astrid Kruse Jensen, Fie Johansen, Kirsten Klein, Janne Klerk, Henrik Saxgren og Trine Søndergaard
The project aims to be a landmark attracting local, national and international interest. One of the recurring motifs throughout the project is the shifting lights and changing seasons. The international dimension of the project turns it into an active co-player, and brings creative power and reality to the local and regional life of culture.
Denmark in transition will be on display from mid-February at the Museumsberg Flensborg in collaboration with “Brandts Klædefabrik” and the Danish embassy in Berlin and is expected to find more locations in Germany throughout spring 2012. The exhibition had its premiere in September 2010 at the Museum of Photoart in Odense, was presented at HEART - Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, and will be on display at Gl. Holtegaard and Sophienholm in the second half of 2012.
