The Danish Presidency wishes to draw attention to the importance of strengthening the work with young people, considering the challenges that demographic changes cause the European labour market within the near future. The Conference on “Youth: Employment and Inclusion in times of crisis” will follow up on the Commission’s “Youth Opportunities Initiative” by addressing the following challenges: access to the labour market, social inclusion and maintaining skills at a time of crisis. At the Conference, the role of Member States, social partners, organizations, private actors and young people will be discussed as well as best practices from Member States.
The Conference consists of an introductory and a concluding plenary session, as well as three parallel workshops which will address the challenges faced by the EU and identify solutions. The Danish Minister for Employment, Ms. Mette Frederiksen, will open the Conference, and the Danish Minister for Social Affairs and Integration, Ms. Karen Hækkerup, will conclude the Conference.
