It is tradition for the Member State holding the EU Presidency to host an EU-US Senior Officials Meeting. The purpose of the meeting, in which the Commission also takes part, is to discuss current activities in the area of justice and home affairs of common interest to the EU and the US. This includes cooperation concerning mutual legal assistance, data protection, air transport security, migration and the combating of cyber crime.
