MISSOC (Mutual Information System on Social Protection/Social Security) was established in 1990 in order to promote an ongoing exchange of information on social security between the memberstates of EU. MISSOC has grown into a key database of information used by public authorities, professionel users and the European citizens. MISSOC provides up-to-date information in English, German and French about national social protection systems, rights and conditions in all 27 member states plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. The database provides comparative tables with cross cutting introductions, the MISSOC Analysis, an annual information bulletin and other specialised publications.
The updating is done twice a year by the members of the MISSOC network. It is directed by the MISSOC Secretariat. The network meetings intend to coordinate the updatings and strengthen the parallel network.
The agenda is made by the MISSOC Secretariat and includes some regular items relating to the co-operation on the database and furthermore some thematic items and presentations from guests focusing on relevant topics and topics which the Presidency would like to focus on.
