The EPSCO Council (Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Policy) meets four times a year to discuss strategies for improving the standard of living and quality of life for the EU citizens. The meeting in Horsens will be in two sessions, one concerning health and one concerning employment and social policy.
Meeting of the Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs
The 24th and 25th of April will hold a separate Informal minister meeting for the Ministers of Employment and Social Affairs which will facilitate discussions regarding the demographic changes, youth unemployment and posting of workers.
On the first day of the meeting, there will be a summary of the Social Troika discussions with the social partners and the Social Platform followed by discussions regarding issues related to the current economic crisis in Europe. Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Commissioner, Lazlo Andor, will inform about the follow up on the Communication on the ‘Youth Opportunities Initiative’. Subsequently, there will be three parallel workshops on social services under pressure and youth unemployment. The second day of the meeting will facilitate exchanges of views on the proposals of posting of workers and Commissioner Andor will present the Commission’s ‘Employment package’.
