The General Affairs Council (GAC) deals with issues of horizontal and institutional character, including the preparation of and follow-up on meetings in the European Council, negotiations on the EU's multiannual financial framework, the EU enlargement and institutional matters. The Member States are typically represented by their Minister of Foreign Affairs or Minister for European Affairs at the meeting.
There will be six GAC meetings during the Danish Presidency – one each month. In addition the Danish Presidency will host an informal GAC on 10–11 June 2012 where the working sessions will take place in Forum Horsens Conference Center.
