The Conference of the committees of the national Parliaments of the European Union Member States (COSAC) will hold its 47th plenary meeting on 22-24 April at the Tivoli Congress Center in Copenhagen.
The Plenary meeting is chaired by Eva Kjer Hansen, Chairman of European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament and the following speakers will address the Conference:
- Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt
- President José Manual Barroso
- Commissioner Michel Barnier
- Commissioner Janez Potočnik
- Commissioner Neelie Kroes
- MEP Malcolm Harbour
Background
COSAC is a Conference of the committees of the national Parliaments of the European Union Member States dealing with the European Union affairs as well as representatives of the European Parliament.
At the bi-annual meetings of COSAC, six Members represent each Parliament. In addition, the national Parliaments of the candidate countries are invited to participate with three observers each.
COSAC meetings usually take place in the capital of the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
