In view of to the informal meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) on the 26th and 27th of January 2012, the Danish Ministry of Justice invites all Danish and foreign press to an informal press briefing on Tuesday the 24th of January 2012 at 11.30-12.15.
At the informal Council meeting the following topics will be on the agenda:
- A political discussion of the EU’s work against terrorism and cross-border criminal activities. The topics up for discussion will mainly include the question of financing a European system making it possible to exchange passenger information (the PNR system).
- A discussion of the continued work in relation to the recognition and execution of court decisions within civil and commercial law.
- EU cooperation on criminal law including on the determination of provisions on penalties in EU law and questions regarding transfer of convicts to serve sentences in their home countries.
- The question regarding solidarity between EU Member States in relation to handling the migration pressure in Europe.
At the briefing it will be possible to get an elaboration of the topics expected to be discussed during the informal Council meeting.
The briefing will be attended by Head of Division Lene Ahlmann-Ohlsen and Head of Division Kristian Legarth from the Danish Ministry of Justice.
The briefing will be conducted in English and will take place at The International Press Center (IPC), Vestergade 2, 2nd floor, 1456 Copenhagen K, Denmark.
