Under the headline "EU Snapshots of Your Life" the Danish EU Presidency has launched a photo competition primarily aimed at young people, who can win prizes by taking photos of how the EU affects their daily lives.
The competition was launched with high school debates in Aarhus and Copenhagen on 23 and 24 January, and more than 1000 students participated in debating EU dilemmas.
The debates was opened by Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen and moderated by Mads Steffensen, known from a popular Danish radio show, and was based on young people's daily lives with themes such as education, travel, the environment and food.
A mobile application has been developed for the competition, which also has its own Facebook page and is promoted through youth magazines, postcard campaigns in cafés, cinemas and libraries, NGO’s as well as internationally with the help of embassies, etc.
The contestants will compete in four categories:
- Best rated photo
- Most artistic and creative photo
- Best connection between photo and comment
- Funniest photo
The winners will be selected by a jury in June and awarded with tablets.
The competition will culminate in a photo mosaic of contributions offered to schools, libraries and the like.
