The conference will be conducted within the framework of the expert traffic safety forum under the European Commission called the High Level Group on Road Safety.
Representatives from a number of European countries will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss challenges concerning traffic safety. The conference will have a particular focus on the 1.5 million people, who are injured every year on the European roads.
Furthermore, experts from the European Commission and Denmark alike will conduct presentations on important developments in the traffic safety area and thereby create the framework for a political discussion on the effort to secure a strong collaboration within the EU.
In this context the Minister for Transport Mr. Henrik Dam Kristensen says:
“Traffic safety is a matter of high priority in Denmark. Therefore, I am pleased that the conference will present an opportunity to exchange experiences between our countries, and that we are able to contribute with the posi-tive results that Denmark has achieved in recent years.”
“Very soon thousands of Europeans will pack their cars and travel around the EU for the summer. It is paramount that they are able to feel safe when travelling on the roads in their holiday destinations. The Danish EU Presidency supports the EU’s emphasis on strengthening our focus on reducing the number of injuries that are caused by traffic accidents.”
“I look forward to a good conference, which hopefully will result in a strengthened joint effort to make the European roads even more safe to use.”
